This 137th installment of the GSP, centering its theme on "The Age of the Universe," stands as a poignant tribute to the enduring legacy of Dr. Bart J. Bok. As we delve into the cosmic mysteries that fascinated Bok, we not only celebrate his contributions but also highlight the everlasting impact he left on the field of astronomy. The event promises a unique experience by featuring a restored 30-minute recorded lecture from 1957, in which Bok himself shares insights into the then-latest understanding of the age of the universe. The fact that this lecture still holds relevance and captivates audiences after more than six decades speaks volumes about Bok's ability to distill complex cosmic concepts into accessible knowledge. David H. Levy, a close friend and biographer of Bart J. Bok, assumes the role of co-host, providing a personal touch to the event. Levy's involvement adds a layer of intimacy, allowing attendees to connect not only with Bok's intellectual contributions but also with the man behind the astronomical revelations.
