Gear up now for October 14 annular solar eclipse | On October 14th, 2023, an annular solar eclipse will unfold over portions of the Americas giving millions of observers the opportunity to witness the amazing "ring of fire" phenomenon that makes this event so noteworthy.
This much-anticipated annular eclipse will begin in the Pacific Ocean and make landfall at 9:15 a.m. PDT starting in the United States on the Oregon coast near Reedsport. It will quickly move along a band over parts of Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. After exiting the United States, the brilliant ring of fire will continue to move over Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Brazil before heading out to the Atlantic Ocean.
During all stages of an annular eclipse, observers MUST use proper eye protection for viewing because some portion of the Sun will be visible throughout the event.
