Join us for an epic eclipse event! | | | | Reserve your spot now to witness the splendor of the April 8 total solar eclipse from a private ranch in Texas Hill Country | There's still time to reserve your place at the Crossroads of the Eclipses Expedition, an Explore Alliance event. This viewing spot for the April 8th total solar eclipse is located on a private ranch at a remote dark sky site in Texas Hill Country at a point where the paths of both the October 2023 annual eclipse and the 2024 total eclipse intersect.
How close is the Crossroads of the Eclipses Expeditions Site to the centerline of the total solar eclipse? For the 2024 total eclipse, the width of the umbral path is 120.5 miles wide, our site is about 10.4 miles northeast of the centerline.
How long can we experience totality at the site? For the total solar eclipse totality will last 4 minutes and 21 seconds.
What's included in the attendance fee? The site is in rural Texas Hill Country, far from city lights, which is wonderful for nighttime stargazing and astrophotography. Your attendance fee includes an on-site camping site. We will have spaces for tent camping and RV dry camping sites without hookups. Bathrooms will be provided. For additional information on lodging options in the area, click here.
When can we access the site? Early entrance starts on April 5, 2024, with the event running from April 6 to April 9.
What else is there to do outside of the eclipse observing event? Adventures abound in Texas Hill Country, including stargazing, hiking, birding and other outdoor activities. Attendees can also explore the nearby town of Leakey, take a day trip into Texas Wine Country or stay on site and enjoy tasty treats from Micki's Kitchen, a food truck that will be making its final appearance after being a beloved staple at star party events for 20 years. The Explore Scientific team will be on hand with a variety of observing gear.
In October, attendees of the annular solar eclipse event at the Crossroads of the Expeditions site were treated to stunning celestial sights during nightly observing sessions due to the area's beautiful star-studded dark skies!
