Global Star Party Poster with nebula image by Ron Brecher

The 156th Global Star Party kicks off at 6 p.m. CDT

For the 156th Global Star Party, the Explore Alliance is bringing together a community of astronomers to share their insights on our theme of "Eyes in the Dark", which encompasses how astronomers use telescopes and cameras as tools to explore the night sky.

The theme of "Eyes in the Dark" was inspired by GSP presenter Ron Brecher, who named his recent image of NGC 6914, vdB 131, and vdB 132 with this evocative title. Brecher describes the image, which is shown above, in the following way: "This is one of the most intriguing fields that I have imaged. It shows several blue reflection nebulae set amidst a turbulent sea of glowing hydrogen in Cygnus. To me, it looks like 'Eyes in the Dark.'"
