The 167th Global Star Party livestream launches at 6 p.m. CST tonight! | The Explore Alliance is thrilled to invite you to join us for the 167th Global Star Party livestream, which is set to launch at 6 p.m. CST TONIGHT! This virtual gathering will bring together a community of astronomy experts and enthusiasts to explore the theme "Echoes from the Cosmos." A featured presenter at tonight's event will be SETI's Dr. Seth Shostak, who will share his insights on the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. Since 2001, Shostak has served as the senior astronomer at the SETI Institute, a nonprofit organization in Mountain View, Calif., with a mission to "explore, understand and explain the origin, nature and prevalence of life in the universe." Prior to joining SETI in the early 1990s, Shostak conducted radio astronomy research on galaxies, including studies using the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope. Over his career, he has written, edited and contributed to multiple books and has published more than 400 articles on astronomy and other topics.
